In the presenter’s experience, many applications for land surveying licensure fail because applicants do not sufficiently inform themselves of the process, are not aware of the key information sources, and have insufficient background to understand what the licensing boards look at. This leads to frustration as the applicant may not know exactly what the problem was and how to remedy it (or them). HOW the form is filled out is as important as the content. Dr. Paiva covers both and provides numerous tips including building a “village” to help the applicant make the best impression the first time. The stated goal of this course is to help applicants learn how to apply for licensure, to do it correctly, and to be successful the first time.

- Develop an understanding that the applicant will be judged by the quality of how the application is filled out as well as by the content in that application.
- Learn the importance of building a team from your mentors, others in the profession as well as peers who have recently applied for licensure, to help you with the process.
