This course introduces the concept of differential leveling in detail. Example field notes are presented to help the learner how to create them in the field, and how to carry out the calculations. The importance of keeping field notes current is emphasized. Various styles of field notes are covered including a style that accommodates intermediate foresights or “sideshots.” The method of level loop adjustment is covered. The course ends with determining the most probable elevation of a point when more than one line of leveling is run from different benchmarks to the point under consideration. Running time 37 minutes.
